Easy Night Skin Care Routine

There's no need for a complicated night time routine to keep your skin looking fresh each morning. Read on to find out the simple steps to blemish-free skin.

Nothing beats relaxing into a deep sleep after a long day. But before you settle in for the night, spare some thought for your skin. It needs care and attention to help it look and feel its best. Follow our simple, step-by-step night skin care routine to keep your skin looking fresh and free of blemishes come tomorrow morning.

Step 1. Remove Makeup

It seems obvious but we all forget to remove our makeup once in a while. That’s why it’s important to get in the habit of removing your makeup every night in the same way you brush your teeth daily. You’ll be amazed at the benefits this simple step in your night skin care routine will make.

Start by removing your makeup using a cleansing wipe, specially formulated to remove makeup while giving your skin some tender loving care. For sensitive skin, try our Micellar Extra-Gentle Cleansing Wipes. They work like a magnet, capturing impurities and lifting dirt from the skin with no need to rub.

For those with more oily skin, opt for our Pure Active 2 in 1 Purifying Cleansing Wipes. Enriched with salicylic acid and minerals, they remove makeup and purify skin all in one, while their ultra-effective technology even removes stubborn waterproof mascara.

The result? Smooth, refreshed and clean skin in a single wipe.

Try a cleansing milk or cleansing water, which is designed to clear excess sebum, unblock pores and encourage the skin’s natural ability to repair overnight. We love the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Gel Wash, which cleanses and soothes the skin. To use, simply apply to a wet face, foam up with water and massage in gentle circular motions. The perfect way to end your day.

Step 2. Exfoliate

Exfoliation helps to clear away unwanted pollutants such as oil, excess sebum and any remnants of makeup that may have built up in your pores.

Begin by soaking a towel with warm water and holding it against your face. This will help open your pores and get them ready for exfoliation. Then, squeeze a drop of Pure Active Fruit Energy Gel Scrub onto your fingers and gently rub into your skin in small rotations. Be careful not to rub too vigorously – you just want to clean way the dirt, not irritate your skin.

Once your face is covered, wash away any excess with warm water and pat your skin dry using a freshly cleaned towel.

Step 3. Toning time

A step that’s often overlooked in night skin care routines, toning prepares your skin for the next few steps. Using toner can remove excess oil and help to rebalance the face after cleansing.

If you’re struggling with excess oil or breakouts, avoid using heavier makeup to mask this. Instead, tackle the issue at its source. Using toner in your night routine cleans pores, clears away oil and daily dirt build-ups. Our Pure Active Pore Purifying Toner has been specifically developed to help fight imperfections and excess sebum, leaving your face free of blackheads and excessive shine.

To apply, squeeze a few drops of toner onto a cotton pad and sweep it across your face, concentrating on your nose, forehead and chin. Allow this to dry.

Step 4. Bring it all together with moisturiser

The final step in our night skin care routine is to moisturise. While the previous steps are all about removing oils and cleansing your skin, using a specially formulated night cream locks all your hard work in place until morning.

For those suffering from blemishes, try our Anti-Blemish Soothing Moisturiser, which reduces the appearance of spots and marks without drying out your skin. The Garnier Miracle Sleeping Cream combats signs of ageing and tiredness, giving visible results from the first morning.

To apply your night cream, take a pea-sized amount on your finger and use this to lay small dots on your nose, chin, forehead and both cheeks. Finish by massaging into your skin for best results.

Step 5. It’s called beauty sleep for a reason

When we sleep, our body repairs itself. Without enough rest, we can start to notice the more obvious signs of tiredness: puffy rings under the eyes, as well as dryness and wrinkles. Getting between seven and nine hours shuteye is crucial for maintaining healthy skin and a glow from within.

Our easy night skin care routine will prepare your skin for the night shift, rejuvenating and repairing itself ready for a new day. Taking a few minutes out from your evening will save time in the morning and leave you waking up to a healthy, gorgeous glow every day.
